Article from Chief Inspector Claire Galt:
“I am very pleased to report that one of Tameside’s Neighbourhood Sergeants, Stuart Charlesworth, has been invited by His Majesty The King to attend one of this year’s garden parties at Buckingham Palace.
“He has been nominated in recognition of the support and guidance he provides to officers and staff who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
“Stuart is passionate about others who are struggling with mental health. He himself suffered a work-based trauma in 2012, which led to him being diagnosed with PTSD.
“Since then, he has worked tirelessly to reduce to the stigma around mental health by encouraging officers to talk and ask for help.
“Stuart works as a volunteer GMP Peer Supporter, is a TRiM Practitioner and also runs a support group for male officers within GMP, called Code 9.
“I also have some good news from the Tameside East team, who, when proactively patrolling their drug dealing hot spot locations, came across a suspicious vehicle. They followed the vehicle and managed to box it in on a supermarket car park in Stalybridge.
“The occupants of the vehicle were searched under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act and a substantial amount of class A drugs and a large amount of cash, was found.
“Both were arrested under suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs. Another great result by Tameside’s neighbourhood teams.
